Folkform: The Museum of Masonite, SFF 2024
An exhibition of Masonite works from Folkform.
Since establishing Folkform in Stockholm in 2005, designers Anna Holmquist and Chandra Ahlsell have explored Sweden’s industrial heritage through the creation of objects that sit at the intersection of craftsmanship and industry.
This display is a selection from Folkform’s collected works, made using the last of the original hardboards manufactured at a Masonite factory in Rundvik in the north of Sweden. Also featured is The Production Novellas, a publication by Folkform that offers an artistic investigation of material and place, revealing the studio’s in-depth research into material cultures.
Told through the studio’s 15-year collaboration with the now-closed Masonite factory, The Museum of Masonite examines how design can re-connect consumers with industry, craft and local traditions.
The Folkform Museum of Masonite is hosting book readings with a glass of wine on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon at 4pm. C14:42
